Finally ... New Shop/Business !!
Well after about 20 years of just dreaming about it, I'm finally making the 'move' and starting a custom shop. My childhood friend, who runs a hi-end hot rod shop, will be partnering up with me on this adventure.
We found some decent shop space for rent for reasonable...and its only 7.1 miles away from my home ... compared to 50 currently !! Here are PICS from this massive move project: - - Front of shop ... first day we met with landlord, well before he was the landlord. Two massive roll doors, office and bathroom..... - - - We could of done with only one bathroom, but I guess regs require a his and hers ? - - - - Same goes for office, two rooms with A/C. One will make a nice sitting area for my kids to hang out after school, homework, and so forth.... - - My buddy, (the kinda buddy that keeps you busy with constant changes to his truck !!) came by to check out the situation .... - - - The cement floor was in great shape and we wanted to keep it nice. But the landlord did not want it epoxied, so the next solution was staining, then POLISHING ! - - Man was this a LOOOONNG two days !! - - - - - -

Re: Finally ... New Shop/Business !!
- After polishing the floor with 400, you lay a dark (black) stain on floor, then go over it again with 800. This is the result... - - - - Looks really nice in person ... Pics are crappy. - - - Final burnish, of buff... - - After being there ALL DAY, I couldn't tell a difference in color...but there is... - - - Couple days later, I once again "twisted the wifes arm" into coming out one night to help us mask (still had to take her to dinner)... - - Lil John was getting down with masking too... - - -

(kids obviously done working)
- - - - Wanted to give it some color. We decided to match the I-beam rafters, then trim with a Flat black boarder....then eventualy a red stripe... Besides primer is my favorite color !! - - - - - - - And now...THE MOVE BEGINS !! - -

Re: Finally ... New Shop/Business !!
- - - - - - Everything was boxed up, and moved. Now the unboxing, organizing, tossing out, and clean up are in progress ! - - At my current shop, I had access to a forklift. Here, I had to use a cherry picker. Soon, that same forklift will be here, too !! (big thanks to father-n-law !!!) - - - - - - - Lots of organization to do..... - -

Re: Finally ... New Shop/Business !!
This press was REALLY heavy ....
- - - This Last weekend, we moved out all the big stuff...including my 12K car lift....that was fun !! - - - - Here comes the back-burner project listed in my sig.....The Samurai chassis, with S-10 4.3.... It'll go back on the same rack at new shop....LOL !!! - - Flatbed and trailer I built back in 2000.... - - - - - More picker action..... - - After much discussion and arguing among friends...we decided to the mount the car-lift in the center of the building.....at a right angle to the roll doors. This will give us access from both sides. Thoughts were to place it in the far right back side (where homedepot racks are) but this would limit access. Plans are for a four post near a door in the future. - - - Template to aid in discussion... - - - - -

Holy Cat-chow John, that is an awesome space!
I especially like the paint scheme for the way it's brought the rooms ceiling down visually and am very impressed with the floor. |

Re: Finally ... New Shop/Business !!
I had a 67 exactly like that for awhile when I was a kid. I don't remember the whole situation but for some reason I was in dire straights for a car and my dad picked me up a very nice stone stock one for I believe it was 250 bucks. My friends said it was a grandmas car lol ... I wish I had it now! I'm not sure what happened to it, but I think my dad gave it to his sister when I was done with it the short time I needed it.
Love the new shop ... looks like a real pro shop you have going together.
