got me a 1965 c10 stepside swb
bought a 1965 c10 today the guy didn't have it for sell but took a $1000 for it .IM going to be restoring it from the ground up by myself and this forum.Im going to get rid of the spare tire and tire fender. And not sure about the back bumper yet.The engine and trans will be taken out and a lt1 with auto trans will be put in its place and probably going to put in an independent rear suspension too.Im going to keep the little back glass I think it looks more sporty with it and conert it to power steering and power brakes andit will be painted jet black.

Welcome! You're in the right place. Nice choice on the color, my favorite! Good luck on your build. Make sure to take lots of photos, especially now before you do anything. It's easy to start tearing things apart and months or years later realize you don't have any "before" pictures.

Welcome. Looks like a nice start. I like the front bumper, looks like maybe a mid 70's.

Re: got me a 1965 c10 stepside swb
Welcome aboard.
I think that front bumper looks good on there too! Rear bumper is one that some guys on here are very fond of. It allows you to drop the tailgate all the way down, believe it was a dealer option, but I am no expert. If you end up going with a different bumper out back, I am pretty sure there will be a line up to take that one off your hands.

Re: got me a 1965 c10 stepside swb
Glad to see you have a plan. Sounds like a good one too. There seems to be plenty of us around who have a 65 step. My website shows my progress. Currently finishing up the frame. Suspension all done. Follow my progress if you want. Great help is available from other folks here so don't be shy to ask questions and remember - we all LOVE pictures!

Re: got me a 1965 c10 stepside swb
Looks like you found a winner. Good start on planning project too. Other things to plan are:
Suspension, brakes and steering very important in upfront work. Fuel tank location, some do, some don't. But if think you will, making that decision in time to eliminate stock filler opening before painting is important. I like the step side along with spare location. If you eliminate that, where are you going to carry spare? Air Conditioning -gotta love it. Tire width and rims. Enjoy the journey! |

Re: got me a 1965 c10 stepside swb
Kinda looks like they did a good job of it, though I also need new frame horns for my 61, although I think I messed them up myself while pulling the truck out of it's field (by the bumper, oops).

I just saw this one and the first thing I thought when I saw the pictures on Post #1 is " that is the rear bumper I have been looking for ". Then I looked at the post date...crap. My truck originally had one like that when I got it. But being a teenager at the time it was not "cool". Now being 50, I want it back...
