Grilling you on grilles.
First off is it a grill or a grille ? This may be best suited for Keith or Jeff...But,there's always somebody that knows on here...the 78 -79 grill or grille has provision for chrome moldings on the grill itself a full strip on the top of the bowtie and a half strip on both sides of the bowtie. I would assume the higher trim level's got the candy. How about a custom cab diesel ? also some were black some argent ? What determined that ?

Re: Grilling you on grilles.
Grill (noun): a grated utensil for broiling meat, fish, vegetables, etc., over a fire; gridiron.
Grille (noun): a grating or openwork barrier, as for a gate, usually of metal and often of decorative design, an opening, usually covered by grillwork, for admitting air to cool the engine of an automobile or the like; A grille is on the front of your truck, you put meat on a grill. As far as what determined what on the 78-79 argent vs black, chrome strip vs none, I'm not sure. My 78 Custom Deluxe K30 Fire Truck had an argent grille with no chrome strip. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...D/DSCN1643.jpg

?? Relative to the trim question, as is my custom I went directly to the GM Heritage Center archive and pulled up the info packet for the '78 Chevy pickup. Exterior trim is described starting on page 69; It mentions "argent" in color and no mention of the chrome dividing strips on regular trucks. It does reference them on the Sport truck as well as black details for Sport truck. http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...olet-Truck.pdf K

IMO
Yep, I always spell things wrong intentionally when searching on ebay, that's how you find the deals.

Re: Grilling you on grilles.
Just looking thru original sales brouchures on ebay it looks like black grill's got the trim. Here's a couple examples.Just going off the ebay pics i couldn't find a argent with chrome strips.always black. By the way isn't that blue and white truck with stock wheels and hubcaps sweet or what.

Re: Grilling you on grilles.
I have been researching these as I'm in the process of restoring an original 79 grille. Now,if the argent/black, chrome strips no chrome strips isn't confusing enough. I come across two different bowties that must relate to trim level. The first example on the nos grille looks like a painted decal . the second cooler looking one is metal chrome with amber plastic insert. Anyone ?
