Cab Question
So I have been looking at the mass of smashed in corners on the back of my cab, and more and more thinking it will never look right, even after hours of body work. So I just wanted to know if a 2wd cab will for sure fit a 4wd cab, I know there is a low and high hump cab, my cab is set up for a sm465 and is a high hump in the center, but this piece could be swapped to the new cab correct? from what I have looked at the cab mounts and everything look to be the same.
Thanks, Jr |

Re: Cab Question
I bet your answer is in this note from another thread about cabs. It tells about using replacement cabs (in the day) for a variety of apps. The cabs will mount the same. The floor hump may not be the same, but you'll be able to see the differences and make the adjustments you need.

Re: Cab Question
You will have to cut the floor of the 2wd and use the high hump. There are no other differences.

Re: Cab Question
Yes, the low hump can be cut out and use the high hump. Also many two wheel drive cabs had high humps, any with the SM-420 or SM-465 4 speed transmissions have high humps.

Re: Cab Question
Yes thank you, I got one with a high hump from a 69 GMC 3/4 ton with a 4spd, so i will just have to make a hole for the 4 wheel selector.

Re: Cab Question
i have a 72 2WD cab on a 1971 4WD chassis, i just dropped the transfer case mount a little. it changes the engine angle a couple degrees.
mine has a TH350 and a 205 transfer case. 4WD stick in the cab looks good. i went with a MSD HEI, that puts the cap is close to the firewall, it clears and works fine. |

Re: Cab Question
They are pretty good. Rusty as usual haha. Keene and walpole had some major floods in 2005 and just recently. RT 123 got washed out in Alstead and all the houses along it are gone, one person died.
