Need drop spindles,,,,where?
Ready to order my drop spindles so where can I get a decent set for a really good price. I went to the bone yard Friday and couldn't find any trucks 72-87 for my control arms so I guess I'll rebuild my original ones and go that route.

iF YOU STAY with stock spindles (drop) then you are locking yourself into buying a disc brake kit. Take some more time and find a 84-91 burb front crossmember, powersteering box, sway bar, etc....cost about 200.00 then rebuild it cost about 125.00 from online sources. Then buy the drop spindles and you will also have 5 x 5 bolt pattern up front......Kieth JMO the later model front end gets you 1.5" wider track, heavier bearings, big discs, a sway bar......good luck Kieth http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...5214&k=3SjQdcF |

Re: Need drop spindles,,,,where?
But cant I get the 2 1/2 inch drop CPP spindles and add calipers like from a 73-87? Or do I have to have their (CPP) calipers?

Re: Need drop spindles,,,,where?
Don't bother rebuilding your stock upper control arms, buy a new set from rockauto.com for $60 each, they come with new shafts and bushings and ball joints too! What a deal! I bought my drop spindles off ebay from a vendor that's here on the board, can't remember the user name but there in the vendor section, they fit perfect and quality is good.

Re: Need drop spindles,,,,where?
No, No, No...go to McGaughy's in Fresno Ca. They are old school manufacturer and the quality is second to none. Look on ebay and you can get them for about $500 from a guy out of Madera. You won't be disappointed with the quality. They have standard and 2 1/2 drop including everything you need for the disc brake conversion.
They are neurotic when it comes to the quality of their product. Good luck! |
