Re: Brake lights stopped working

Check the harness connections at the firewall , rear harness 1st. Sounds like you have power and then loose it. Also check the fuse....had one go bad a while back...would touch and then break circuit when turned left or right.

Re: Brake lights stopped working

Sounds like a loose wire or connection. Might be a switch under the brake pedal going bad also. And check that it is grounded well.

Re: Brake lights stopped working

I soldered a ground wire to every light housing on my truck, then grounded them all to the frame via a grounding block. All the difference in the world.....lights are all very bright. Kieth

So often we tend to call taillights by the name "brake lights". So, for sure, which are not burning along with your license lights? It may take a different route to troubleshoot, depending on which issue you have, as they are on different circuits.
BTW: Taillights and license plate lights are on the same fuse with dash lights. That way, anytime one had a fuse blow that caused his taillights to go out(a dangerous situation), his dash lights also went out(not dangerous, but aggravating AND eye-catching) to warn him to fix his taillights. Brake lights are NOT on that fuse--another fuse AND another circuit!
