72 blazer bed sides

Has anyone ever modified new truck bedsides for blazer bedsides? The ones on the blazer I'm restoring are really rough. Also any good ideas on repairing windshied frame?

Re: 72 blazer bed sides

I havent, but Ive read on earlier posts that people have modified short bed sides to use on blazers. How bad is your windshield frame?

The windshield frame is rusted through on the inside of the cab passenger side. Some big holes. Outside is still ok but not great.

You can check out my complete build thread (in .sig below) to see how the shortbed truck bedsides work....they end up about 6" too long, but are easily shortened to work for Blazers.

I removed the old ones in Post #671.... and started fitting the new ones in Post #711

....assuming you don't want to spend the next 5 hours reading the entire build thread, here's a direct link to the fitment post:

SWB bedsides are the only way to get it done, many on here have done it including myself, as far as the windshield frame better off finding a donor blazer, and grab your check book!

Let me know if you have any sweetpea. I would like to replace the bedsides instead of repairing if possible.

Re: 72 blazer bed sides

I have made a formed metal cover to weld over the entire inside of the windshield frame, it is turning out ok and should look ok. I will try to post some pictures soon of it.

greg, are the fenders you got the 600bux full fenders? I see on the ck5 site that it includes the inner skin as well.

Re: 72 blazer bed sides

Yeah, full bedsides (inner & outer).... it felt a little weird to cut them apart with a spotweld cutter about 5 minutes after paying for them.

Re: 72 blazer bed sides

ok, I didnt know they included the inner skin. Now I see the price... and the part I need. Now to see if I want to justify the cost.

Thanks for the link to the pictures and info.
