Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
Found this in a box of parts in the parts shed and not sure what it came from? Smooth surface with no shift pattern like my '71 4 spd. 4x4 had. Same knurling as the '71 knob and my '71 transfer knob but no pattern at all. Smaller threaded hole on underside. 1/4" with fine thread, not sure on thread size. Can check that later to see if it helps identify. ???

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
70 and earlier K truck I suspect - these years used a decal on the dash for the shift pattern, which was discontinued on the 71-72 trucks and supplanted with engraving on the knob.

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
Just came back from the shop and confirmed the knob is a 1/4" x 28 nf thread. Would this knob be for the gear shift or the transfer lever? Any idea as to the value? Knob is in very good shape, knurling shows no cuts or wear and very minor blemishes on the underneath side. Top of the knob has very nice shine to it.

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
T-case as it lacks the 1-2-3-4 shift pattern. Here's a link that shows a similar t-case knob: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=479451 Not sure as to value - try a search on the board for those sold in the recent past. Pete

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
Thanks for the link Pete. Looks like that's what I have, 1970 NP205 transfer lever knob. Always learning about these trucks which is a good thing, love'm for sure.

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
A lot of different things used those knobs. I ran P&H cranes and they used the same ones on the levers on them. It could be from a lot of different things. Chris

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
I have one a little bit more odd. Just like yours but it's maroon! (mine has a 3/8 hole that fits the 4 speed shifters)
It was being used in a 72 GMC big truck for a PTO knob. Maybe original to that? Value? I don't know. I've had mine listed on ebay for $16.99 for a short time with no bites yet.

Re: Gear Shift Knob Identify ?
1/4"-28 sounds like its pretty small for a shifter knob. Most i've seen are 3/8" threads. Alot of industrial equip uses smaller knobs on hydraulic valves like zeeklu mentions.
