wheel cylinder question
I have a rear end out of a 67 c10. I bought some wheel from A@@@Zone.
I thought there was a right and left, but they insist there the same. So tell me are they the same or not?

Re: wheel cylinder question
The wheel cylinders are different, the brake line connections are on opposite sides.

Re: wheel cylinder question
Also, check the threads in them.I bought a couple from them several years ago and one of the holes was not threaded.I had it in and one bolt started and just could not get the second bolt started. Finally took it out and found they hadn't tapped it.

Re: wheel cylinder question
be sure you get the correct ones too 50% of the time i go there i get the wrong parts. I've learned too throughly check everything before i leave.
I ordered just about everthing from rock auto online for my rebuild and never gave a thought as too right and left stuff just ordered 2 of everything and surprizingly somebody there realized too send me l&r stuff that impressed me. I must say that they have done a good job of being in the know. I received absolutly nothing that was wrong and it was alot of parts

Re: wheel cylinder question
That's the problem with parts guys that have never installed anything more than a battery.
Autozone's website shows only one wheel cylinder - I'm sure that's what their computer in the store is showing as well. O'Reilly's shows both left and right. They are definitely different. If Autozone can't sell you the right ones, go somewhere else. |

Re: wheel cylinder question
Mostly, I now bring in the original parts I need replaced.
It's a hard practice if they're still installed and you're just planning ahead BUT I'm tired of getting the wrong stuff and wasting my time.

Re: wheel cylinder question
Yep. Went through the same thing with AutoZone on my '69 a couple years back. Parts guy insisted they were both the same. Then I go home & discover the cylinders were the wrong thread. Went to NAPA - problem solved.

Re: wheel cylinder question
Well, I just learned something new. I had no idea they were different. Good thing because I will be redoing all my brakes soon.
