My Super Bowl weekend of truck repairs
I'm not a football guy, so instead of watching the big game I spent the weekend working on my old '82 dually. I got alot done:
I replaced the compressor, drier, orifice tube, all the seals, & got the a/c back working again & put 2 new tires on the front end installed a 12,000lb winch in the rear bumper & remote-mounted the solenoid box up in the bed Installed some incredibly bright led flood lights on the headache rack & mounted them to a hidden telescoping pole so they'll double as lighting for our pit area when we haul my El Camino to the track. They extend up to 12' tall! It's like having a small light plant! Also went and got all the windows tinted too. I'm slowly getting all the mechanical stuff ironed out, should be ready to start bodywork & paint soon. Anyone else work on their old Chevy this weekend? Man i really like that light pole you made, that is pretty clever. That is a great tool I might have to do that. I have been real lazy with my truck lateley and the my bed looks like hell. That is a great idea!

Re: My Super Bowl weekend of truck repairs
I stole the telescoping pole off a set of those tripod flood lights from Home Depot. It used a 2" tube that hid perfectly behind the 2x3" tubing on my headache rack & fit right between the back of the headache rack and cab, plus it lets the lights rotate 360. The lights only pull 1.4amps each so I can leave them running for hours without running the battery dead.

Spent a few hours scrubbing/degreasing a junkyard Tcase to prepare it for rebuilding.

Re: My Super Bowl weekend of truck repairs
Nice I spent the weekend working on mine as well. I pulled the bed scrapped all the crap off the frame rails and primed them. I cut the cab corner and rockers on the passenger side out welder in the new ones did some filler work and primed it. Now I just need to find a lot of other NOS parts becuase I hate working with aftermarket parts.

Like your truck. Did you build the headache rack/bedrails and the bumper?

Re: My Super Bowl weekend of truck repairs
Yes I built them all. Took a lot of ribbing from guys on this site that it was too big but I like it and I think it fits the size of the truck
