I need help, 1971-72 GM Truck Tilt Column Disassembly.
Hi guys;
I'm disassembling my truck tilt and I've run into a problem. I dont know how to seperate the shift housing from the shifter tube and remove it from the outter jacket. I started by using a socket and driving the shift tube down through the outter jacket but then it got to the point where the ends of the two tubes were flush and thats where I'm stuck I cant get it the rest of the way out, I've done a great job of mangling the leading edge of both tubes so far. I also dont understand out how to remove the Plate Lock and Wave Washer. Here are some pictures of where I'm at, I really need some instructions on how to get it the rest of the way out. Thanks in Advance. |

Have you tried the factory service manual, should be in section 9 IIRC?
