6.2 Litre LSA Supercharged swap

Anyone do this swap yet ?

I just finished a LS2 swap into my 58 and am really happy with it ....

So now I have a 1966 short box "project low and go" as I call it and just purchased the Factory Superchared LSA 6.2 Litre backed with a 6 speed automatic set up that I am freeing from the engine compartment as we speak. It's not all out yet but am taking my time to make sure that I don't damage anything I am going to need. I couldn't find much info on the ins and outs of the swap and thought I would see if anyone has messed with them and has any pointers......Thanks

Sounds like a good swap, but considering that I haven't seen anyone do it yet (and Vancouver BC is my favorite place on the planet) you should have me come out to aid in the swap....better safe than sorry.

Hartrod is in the process of doing the swap. He is still gathering parts and info. His build would be a good place to start. Just look up Hartrod in the build section.

I have a 6.0 and 6 speed to do a swap, but I haven't started yet. I'm still gathering parts too.

Please share any info you figure out with the rest of us.

Hartrod is using Dirtydingo mounts and I am going to try ECE mounts. I bought Doug Thorley headers and I think we are both going to use Cadillac CTS-V oil pans.

I haven't decided who to use for wireing harness but am thinking Speartec. Rob has visited with them about the harness. Rob also found steering mount shifter setup to use. I think he is going to use a Dakata Digital dash.

Like I said, please post up any other info you come across.

Oh for sure I will ....
I will have it out by the weekend and spend sometime cleaning it up.....I think my buddy will repin the harness....I have a porterbuilt front end in my 66 and the LS mounts are already in the clip. I plan on using a paddle shift set up as well....I might go with the caddy gauge set up mounted into my cluster not sure. I went dakota's in my 58 swap and they are awesome ad I love them. Well had some set backs yesturday............. nothing that can't be fixed
The LS mounts fit but they hit the AC Pump and had to be altered.....The AC hits the frame....the altenator hits the frame. The Trailblazers LS2's have everything mounted up high the LSA has everything mounted down low so it's a tight squeeze . The supercharger clears the firewall and when the harness is cut down I think the harness will fit back there as well....

Take a look at Holley's LS accessory brackets. They raise everything up and look factory.

Well turns out the altenator bracket and altenator or toast, taken out in the crash as well as the bolt tabs on the tranny tailshaft. So far not too bad other then the fact the altenator doesn't even have a replacement number so it looks like it's all dealer parts.....ugh....thats going to hurt I am thinking.

Well....have some fit issues....the A/C pump won't fit it hits the frame big time....Turns out I can't use that pump anyhow,Vintage air says it won't work on there system. The altenator hits the frame and the power rack. Well i think it does when i do the CSI part fit using a bunch of broken pieces.

The solution seems to be to rework the engine mounts....lift the engine 1" and move the mounting point back a 1" as well. The engine mounts that i used were PB's and the mounting point is in the very front of the engine pad...so moving it back a bit won't be too bad....then when we move it back 1" on the crossmember we will probaly need to be a bit creative but that should give me enough room to make it all work out.

It's going not bad....I have it as far as i can go while i wait for parts to arrive.....I don't want to finish the mounts off until i have the rest of the parts tucked in. I know if i wait it will clear and if i finish the fab.....it won't.....
