Bed Cover (feedback from all years welcome)

I picked up an 08 GMC yesterday, and I am wanting to add a bed cover to it so I can store items there out of site and locked up. I see the hard fiberglass ones that slightly roll over the side seem to obsolete now. I have no clue what I am looking for on these modern styles.

As title says, all year/styles are welcome to post. Quality/design shouldnt change much thru the years.

Please post what you have, why you picked it. Any solid feedback on others(no hearsay). Posting a picture of it would be helpful as well.

I got a Lund trifold soft tannoue cover and it is nice. $300 if you shop around. I love it

I have a Hard cover 1-piece on my 84 GMC SWB show truck from Snug-Top and it works great for locking up the bed. (see my avatar)It is flat and lays out nice behind the cab. The bad thing is if you ever want to haul something big, you have to either drive with it partially open or take it off of the truck. My old daily driver had a trifold soft top cover from Extang and it worked great, but it could be opened by cutting it with a knife, if someone wanted to open it. Extang has a soft covered hard trifold on the market, now, but never had one.
I now have a 2011 GMC SWB daily driver with a standard cab, that I put a Bak-Flip hard trifold cover on it. The cover is flush mounting and folds up into thirds and then it can fold up against the cab for nearly full access to the bed. I like mine and would buy another if I had a need for one. It closes tight and is accessed from inside the bed once the tailgate is opened. My tailgate has a lock on it.

i got a tonno pro tri fold and i love it. even better that i got it at cost.

I bought a GemTop tonneau cover. I like quite a bit. It's low profile and color matched. My biggest complaint is it freezes shut sometimes but I suppose some vaseline on the seals would help.

Silly, I had a similar one like that on my old show truck, leaked water alot. How is yours when it rains?


Anyone have the BAK roll up one? Two of my coworkers have them. One loves it, one hates it.

Never any leaks with it.

I will say that my BAK Flip trifold, does not leak to date and it is two years old. I like it.

I've got a roll up Truxedo cover. It's good, keeps the water out. It's the tailgate and stake pockets that let water, dust, mist/road spray and snow into the box while driving on the highway or grid roads.

I have owned several trucks with the SnugTop SnugLid. They are well made and look great on my trucks. I have had very good luck with only one having to have the struts replaced. Warranty did not cover them but the dealer sold them to me at cost.

I plan to buy a new truck soon, and it will have a SnugLid on it too.

I had a fold-a-cover on my 05 for 4years+ loved it..not totally water tight but fine...loved the versability....just bought a 08 and put another on that...

I had a BAK FLIP on my Canyon that was a snap to install and worked well. I wish they made a hard folder that was tool box compatible.

My g/f's dad had the dealer install one of those black colored aluminum sliding covers and he loves it. I thought it was really neat. They make them motorized, but I think I'd prefer the manual one like he has, faster and easier. It looks great closed and open, and can be locked in any partially open place if you wanted to leave some of the bed open to carry a tall item and the rest covered. They are pricey, and usually you buy the rails and the cover seperately from what I've seen in the various automotive catalogs. Plus, they are black... but often times you have a black bedliner or roll in liner anyway right?

This is really similar to the peragon link posted, but there are more sections, which seems like it would make it roll up smaller.



And it can be installed in any truck bed from what I've heard and has water channeling to run off to the back (like a car trunk).

Thanks. I ended up getting one of the bak roll up ones. Similar to the one shown above. Its very sensitive on adjusting how much slop there is side to side.

Also, in the ice we just had, it wouldnt open. So be aware if you get alot of snow/ice where you live.
