The dash pad on my 77 has some cracks, beside replacing the whole thing are there any repairs that can be done to make it look better?

Re: Cheap Dash repair
I got the 40 dollar carpet cover from Summit. I don't mind that look myself. However if you search there is a member who sells a cover you put on your self that looks factory. Good luck.

Re: Cheap Dash repair
I got a nice $10 carpet cover from rockauto. Wound up using about 5x the velcro supplied though, to make it stay right.
I've seen some how-tos on using spray foam & bondo to patch the cracks, then a spray paint product to coat that somewhat replicates the texture. I might try that in the future.

For our trucks. Very nice fit too.

Re: Cheap Dash repair
I've never written up how I did mine, but plenty others have shared. The only thing I did that I'm not sure if I've seen here is use expanding foam in all the speaker grills. It is very easy to cut with sandpaper but what is left is very hard and light. I used 3M 4240 to fill in the cracks after cutting the curled up high spots off with a dremel and sanded it smooth when dry. Then I sprayed on a coat of bedliner from rattle-can. I still need to do the color coat, but it looks good. If you don't mind giving up dash speakers when you're rebuilding your dash pad, the expanding foam will give you a solid repair.

Re: Cheap Dash repair
It was the Foss Fiber shown in the rockauto catalog. Just checked and everything there now is $24 & up. When I bought it last year it was $10 - that's why I bought it. Tacked it on to an order as a "why not?" deal.

Re: Cheap Dash repair
I've always wondered if stripping the dash pad down to the bare material and spraying it with something like bed liner, would look good? I've been thinking about trying it.
I don't see a reason why you would have to have a foam on the dash pad. |

Re: Cheap Dash repair
a friend cut a v into the cracks on mine, fiberglassed and then used bondo to smooth it out and then re wrapped it. also shaved the defrost vents in the process. came out killer.

Re: Cheap Dash repair
A quick and easy is a glue on cover from lmc worked pretty good on mine and was 15minute install.

Re: Cheap Dash repair
Theres a thread on here of a guy who filled the cracks in his dash with expanding foam and sprayed it with a product called flex seal which can be had at any auto parts store or even walmart. It looked pretty good imo.
