Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I wouldn't put one of those on any antique vehicle. That's what the newer junk was made for. LOL Buy an 80's Ford or similar for such a thing.
I heard snow plowing is very bad for your frame. Truth? I don't know?

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I never hurt anything o my truck. But,I treat my stuff with respect. I stopped driving my 67-72s in the winter 20+ years go when I realized that's why they rusted out. The trucks I plowed with in the '80s were already rusty when I put plows on them.

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
Well I only want to do my drive and I'm in a small house in town. I don't want four vehicles in my little driveway. And if I wasn't in a chair I would just get a snow blower they make these really light weight plows u can even but on vans I plan on using my 3/4 ton as a truck either way hauling gravel and stuff just debating a plow or even a pull behind plow

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I built this truck with spare parts basically to plow my own driveway. I plow one neighbor every time it snows and a couple others on standby. That pays for all my gas and any repairs so far...
The second pic is about a 5'-6' snowbank

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I'd just pay some poor college kid about 15 bucks. cheaper than a plow and a rusty frame haha

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I wish I could. Small town. Nothing but old people in my neighborhood. Old neighbors had tractor but they moved
Posted via Mobile Device I don't see rust being a huge issue when it will be my drive then back into a heated garage. No salt. They don't even salt or sand our road

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I have my plow on a 84 GMC. They do tear the trucks up, but if you just use it for your own residential use you won't have any issues.
Don't forget there is extra maintenance, flushing the hyrdraulic fluid every year, dealing with leaks, or batteries, or alternators, etc. They are hard on more than just the frame, But I plow commercial lots so my truck gets more use than your would. |

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I use my trucks, just not in the salt. Since they're now cherished classics I like them with a nice factory bumper or a winch bumper on a 4wd. Can you run a lawn tractor w/ a plow. It would be cheaper than a plow set-up,have other uses, and not take up the space a plow would most of the year sitting. People plow with quads and side by sides, but that's getting pricey

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
I put one on my 1/2 ton a few years ago. I only use it in my driveway (no salt) and on the lake - again no salt.
If you don't get a 30mph run at a snow bank I don't think it will be a problem. I believe that is how you do bad things to your frame and transmission. I haven't noticed any ill effects from the light duty plowing I do with my rig. Remember, snow doesn't hurt steel. Salt sure does though. Scott - looking at your driveway I'm thinking that would be the perfect fit for a snow plow.

Re: Anyone have plows on their ride?
Since I live on a dirt road that does not always get plowed out I made my own plow truck to replace a 4x4 longbox plow. The plow is based on a Blazer frame with truck cab mounts and it is very short compared to the long box.
I liked the long box truck but the short plow is much more maneuverable and works great around buildings and trees. The plow never sees salt and upkeep is minimal in that it is not abused. Jim

I have a straight run right to the back yard so I think it will work slick and like u said no 30mph runs just a nice push and I can't be in the cold to long that's why I have looked past lawn mowers or atvs granted they make cabs don't think they keep heat in very well Seen and read alot about these think it would work for my drive without alot of work to mount it or unsightly brackets Posted via Mobile Device
