What is this for?
What is the oil filter for, it is located just under the front of the bed.
Doesn't look to be hooked up right now. This is on a 1991 GMC 3500 crew-cab 2-wheel drive. It had a camper on it when I bought it (that was removed before I bought it), and looks to have had a fifth-wheel hitch in the bed at one time.

Re: What is this for?
Does this thing have a diesel engine in it? Maybe they used for a fuel filter.

Re: What is this for?
No, it is a TBI 7.4 (454).
You know, it does have two batteries that I assumed had something to do with the camper, but maybe it was a diesel originally? The 454 does have those "ribbed" valve covers that I think say Tonowanda(?) on them and I thought that was something from a later truck, so maybe it was swapped in? I'll have to break down the option tag on the glove box in the next few days and see what it says...

Re: What is this for?
x3 Those lines to it look like rubber fuel limes as well.
Trace one back to see where it goes.

Re: What is this for?
OK, it's a fuel filter, I guess I could have read that myself!
But my focus was on replacing the fuel filler hoses, and noticed that thing. So is that a deisel thing or woould it have been used for gas? The one line doesn't go anywhere, sort of loops around and is tucked in the frame. The other one disappears behind the heatshield in front of it. Hmmm...

Re: What is this for?
Maybe it had some kind of auxiliary motor in the box at some time like a water pump or a salter. Any weird holes in the box? Maybe somebody decided that they didn't like clamp-on inline filters???
