Will the escalade l92 exhaust manifolds work on my '72 suburban without hitting the frame? I'm using the '73+ frame stands with the dirty dingo slider mounts made for the 73+ trucks. Would like to figure this out before I rip it all apart, so if I need to get the TBSS manifolds I can do that ahead of time. Thanks everyone!!

I am just finishing up installing a LS 4.8 with a 4L60E trani into my 1968 short box stepside. I used the engine and trani mounts from early classic. The stock truck manifolds would not fit for me. The three bolt flange and the egr port was going to hit the frame on the right side. I ended up getting the trailblazer manifolds. They do fit good, but I still had to heat up and bend up the frame rail on the right side abit. I thought that would be better then cutting a notch out of the frame to give it a little more clearance. Good luck.

As far as I can tell from having tried when I did mine; the only way the truck manifolds fit is if your flip them backwards and stick a turbo on the end....

tbss manifolds are the defacto "easy" fit. Doug Thorley swap headers are the premium piece if you wanna spend the money.

That's kind of what I figured. I just wasn't sure because of the 73+ frame stands and mounts I was using. When I just installed the engine yesterday/ today I could get the truck manifolds to work if I slid the engine all the way back. However then I had a bunch of other issues to deal with (driveshaft, tranny linkage, firewall clearance, etc). So I slid the engine all the way forward to correct those issues and then the stock truck manifolds (at least the passenger side) was hitting the frame rail. I think the TBSS manifolds will be cheaper and easier in the long run rather than jacking with the driveshaft and tranny linkage. I could trim away about 3/4-1 inch on the top rail on the passenger side and use the truck manifolds, but I think I will just go with the TBSS manifolds and make it easier on myself. Thanks for the input guys!
