motor perch problem
I went to drop the engine onto the frame today and the perches sit about 1.5" too wide.
I bought new motor mounts for a 69 chevelle because that is what the engine came out of. They look just like the ones I took out but, now I realize they are much thicker rubber. Any clue which mounts have the same bolt pattern as the chevelle ones but are thinner? I have the engine propped up right now so I am kinda wanting to figure this out quickly without a dozen trips to the store to swap out. Thanks for your input! Steven

the mounts that were orig to your truck. they all bolt to the block the same way, 3 bolts. i thought all of those insulators were interchangeable

You might try to get one side in ( the thru bolt ) then adjust your hoist to lift the weight slightly up on that side ( the other side will drop down a little ) to align the other to slide in, we had to do this on a `62 impala...

Chevelle and truck motor mounts are in no way interchangeable. Trucks bolt in through the bottom of the frame stand. Chevelle use a front to rear long through bolt.

Actually, the chevelle mounts that I have are the same as the truck.
They have a single bolt down through the perch. I will try the one side then the other trick. But, I will stop if it seems to be putting too much strain on them. Steven

The mounts that you got are not Chevelle motor mounts then. The motor mounts are specific to the vehicle/chassis, not necessarily the engine. All Gen I and Gen II small block engines have the same motor mount location and bolt pattern.
You might also try loosening the motor mount bracket (perch) bolts, to get the motor mount bolts installed.

Strange...
I went to NAPA and asked for the mounts to a 69 chevelle with a 307 and they gave me the bottom ones. Anyhow, I checked two other places last night and they are all the same thickness so, I will try to wiggle it home this evening and see if I can make it fit. Thanks for all your input! Steven

Got it!
I put the perches on the frame loosely then lowered the motor and started the bolts into the mount. One of the bolts is a little tight too early so I let it rest for tonight and will tackle it rest of the way tomorrow. Probably just need to take some weight off of it with the hoist. Steven
