I currently have 3" drop coils from cpp on my 64. I want to bring down the from two more inches. It's an occasional driver so I'm not concerned about ride quality so much. So, if I cut a coil off, how much drop can I expect?

I doubt you would have any room left between the lower a arm and spring pocket if you did that not to mention . You would not be able to stack shims enough to put it in line. You need spindles

Im sure that you can get drop spindles for drums. But im pretty sure i saw complete disc conversion kits on ebay with a 2 in drop in the 300 range i think i paid almost that for my 2. 5 spindles . At most only other thing you would have to buy is a master cylinder at orylies for less than 20$ and find a proportion valve off a doner.

Im not sure but I don't see why not. although you would not want to roll around aired out. I looked into the kits on ebay. and the rear conversion is in the 300 range the front is 500. I was pretty sure cpp or one of the others offered dropped spindles for drum set ups. but you know its not really hard to swap to disc especially if you have a donor truck. maybe some one like lolife will chime in with more knowledge!

Thanks robz. I know the complete front conversion kit with drop spindles from cpp is around $1000 shipped. I would be interested in what the best donor truck is to use for a conversion. I would assume late 70's.

DO NOT cut those 3" coils. You may as well toss them in the trash if you do because they will be too short and too stiff.

No one makes drop spindles for drum brakes, so its best to convert yours. You can use 73-87 trucks parts (73-91 Burb) or buy quality aftermaket parts from our Forum Vendors.

I have never heard of them. Personally I prefer drop spindles with disc brakes. You couldn't give me a truck with drum brakes.

I'll keep the truck, and convert them to disc brake. Where should I send the old drums...
