Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
I am not sure what you've got but check out this website, it says factory ball joints don't have grease fittings.

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
The installer should've used a 90° Zerk.
The only thing I can think of in your situation is a low profile slotted 90° grease gun fitting like this one http://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Lubrication-5883-Slo......

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
That was a master pro joint. Lol moogs offset so that you can grease them with axle in place.

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
You should be able to remove that zerk and install a 90 degree one in its place. Then, as long as you have it positioned correctly, you will be able to get a grease gun onto it.

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
Guys,
got any pictures of these 90 degree angle zerk fittings in place? I am asking this, because in my case it seems there would just not be nough room in there for such a fitting.

Apparently the thinking was that you would need to service the axle joints again by the time you needed to add grease to the ball-joints? Before Spicer came up with the geaseable axle joints, they were un-serviceable too.

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
Try one of these with the U-Joint turned to the right position...

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
Those require a specific fitting, not the typical zerk.

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
I've used one on straight zerks that were difficult to reach at best. Dirty grease squirted out around the unsealed shaft away from the zerk so it was feeding through and not just making a mess at the zerk. It wasn't a super tight seal though.
I'd be interested to see the fitting they were actually made for. If it's low enough profile it might be worth changing to... in places like the upper Ball Joint on the Dana44 and down those nasty holes on the baler and the chopper... If I can reach em to swap em out.

Re: Grease upper balljoint on 4x4
anybody know the thread of these fittings?
I want to remove the straight fitting and use a 90 degree fitting to grease it and when I am done plug it with a blind fitting. what is the thread size? what are the blind fittings called? any special name?
