Overload leaf?
Is this the factory overload leaf (bottom)? Any reason not to remove it when I do the flip kit?

No it is not.
It's the main spring rest or something. If you remove it your springs will likely break. |

I'm 100% positive it won't cause anything to break...removing it will make the only cause the bearing point of the next spring to be on the saddle, or in the case of a flip kit the plate. I think I can get about an extra 1/2" of drop without it.
Just to be sure we're looking at the same thing I'm talking about the bottom leaf (circled).

Come to think of it, there will be absolutely no gain by removing it once the axle is located on top...DOH! Dumb question here...nothing to see!

It'll look a little cleaner. I'd consider it for aesthetics if nothing else if you're not going to tow/haul anything heavy.
