exhaust options.
i have dual turndowns on my blazer right now, it sounds great! but the issue is inside the cab, i have a major drowning issue, all you can here is this loud humming in your ears! i know the best solution would be full tailpipes... but im on a tight budget haha, what do you think about cutting out the side before the rear wheels? good or no good?

Re: exhaust options.
That will help immensely. I think that's the way motornut routed the exhaust on one of his. You've got to get the exhaust exit out from under the vehicle to reduce the noise.

Re: exhaust options.
my 79 is out the side, its great
keeps the stink out in the draft, radio no problem my 78 i just put turn downs (a quick fix for now) and pointed them out maybe at @45 between the tires and it stinks with back open of course(are your straight down),sound will bounce off the road? the 78 kinda rumbles/drones now at 1000 rpm (like walking speed) which i like, fades out after both 2.25 see both>>>>>

i heard somewhere that cutting out the side doesnt sound good without a H pipe because you only hear 4 cylinders at a time, where as with turndowns or tail pipes they are together so you hear all 8. anyone know if theres any truth behind that?

Re: exhaust options.
well the 78 dosn't have an H pipe, and i could hear "both sides" when it had tails
so i'd say yes you would hear a slight left/right difference as for hearing 4 cylinders, not really in 1000s of rpm, its continuious and yes it sounds the almost the same left /right with the H but i'd say the X pipe would be even closer too "even" sound, cause no corners to go around lol been thinking of 3" chrome tips for the 79 sides tho..... not sure if I wana say "looky here" lol

Re: exhaust options.
i think 3" tips would look good, if you think its to much for your truck you could always go with 2.5" tips, as long as they dont stick out to far and arent to big i think tips look good!

Re: exhaust options.
Your choice of muffler will also have an effect on the interior drone. Flowmaster Super 44's for instance will always have interior noise no matter where the exhaust is exiting. Super 50's will be quiet inside and medium outside.
