Re: what are the most hard to come parts ?

Original bed rails (the chrome tie down set that go on top of the bed sides) are probably the most expensive and rarest factory accessory I'm aware of. I've only seen two in over 10 years. One sold for something above $700 and the other set went for over $1000.

Original sliding back windows are probably next most rare, and 1960-61 wide windshield trim can be very difficult to find.

The original sliding rear windows can be seen on post #29 of the following thread:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...+window&page=2

They are very distinctive with only one sliding panel.

Re: what are the most hard to come parts ?

I'd say the stainless chrome strip around the back of the cab (paint divider). Saw a set in decent shape go for almost a $1000 a few months back...

Also, the Chevy Bowtie Emblem with the V for the front hood. Tough to find in decent shape and no repro parts available.

Markeb01 - I never saw that sliding glass rear window. But I laughed when I saw the seat cushion. My dad had one of those in his 61 truck and they would always fall out when you got out of the truck and stick you in the back of the leg when they started to fall apart. Also... the creaking sound they made when you sat on them.

Thanks for a great "blast from the past"...broke up the afternoon here a bit

Offset-stud mirrors aren't easy to find. Good, straight fleetside bumper filler panels aren't easy to find either.

Re: what are the most hard to come parts ?

In the last few years, I could've had any of the previously mentioned items about ten times each, and I'm not even a net search maniac. Now go and find a middle floor mat for a 60-66 Suburban and then tell me what's hard to come by.
Anyone?... Bueller?

Cool. I found one in a junkyard and it's on my truck now.
I've also found the rear cab trim piece, Apache bed trim, power brake boosters and a couple other bits in junkyards.
Then again, I spend a lot of time cruising the yards--I found an Edmunds Plymouth flathead two years ago, and this week I found a '55-'64 Chevy passenger car posi unit on the front seat of a junkyard '55 Chevy.
