57 Chevy Rear End Question! 9 Inch
Hey guys, im getting ready to install the new ford 9 inch i just got built for my 57. I had it shortened, im actually now curious if i had it shortened too much or not enough. I was wondering what some of you guys have for rear ends and tire sizes, id rather not tube my bed if possible, but i want to get a decent size tire under the truck. So basically im looking to see what you guys have for rear ends and sizes and tire sizes! Maybe some pictures if anyone has any! Thanks!

Re: 57 Chevy Rear End Question! 9 Inch
We would need more info on it than what little you gave.
What width wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flange did you end up with? Then how does that compare to the width of the stock rear axle mounting flange to mounting flange? Then you get into not only how wide the wheel tire combo are but what the back spacing on the wheels is. We have a couple of guys on here who have had about every wheel/tire combo on one of those you can think of so maybe they will chime in.

Re: 57 Chevy Rear End Question! 9 Inch
My tires mounted and wheels bolted to axle housing assembly measure 70 3/4" from sidewall to sidewall. Your truck bed and fenders should measure 72 1/4". I used two sheetrock squares c-clamped together to get my measurements. Your bed measures 50 1/8" wide and this will show you if you would need to tub it. Hope this helps.
