Stepping back in time with an old magazine!
This past weekend I visited a local antique store with my wife. Inside the store I found a small stash of vintage automotive magazines & books for sale. I bought the best of what they had for sale......a book published by Hot Rod magazine featuring popular engine swaps for different vehicles. Inside the magazine they have a section for swapping a large Cadillac V8 into a 55 Chevy pickup. Pretty cool stuff! Here are some sample pics..........

That's cool. Any other neat swaps? Is every swap for a V8?
I love picking up vintage books. The other day I was reading an article in Popular Science about a new invention called a "Catalytic Cleaner" that would be placed in the exhaust system under the car. Can you believe... they claimed it would clean up exhaust emissions? The magazine was dated 1955. I've got a copy of a vintage JC Whitney book that lists dual 4bbl intake manifolds for smallblock Chevy for $69.95. Carbs and linkage not included. |
