Where to send computer for re-flash?
I've got an 03' LQ9 that I need to have the computer flashed to turn off all the VATS, and emissions stuff so I can finish my swap in my 58' truck. Where is a good place to have this done and what's a good price to pay?

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
I am certain there are people who might disagree with this. My advice is to find a local tuner to work with. I was told by a reputable tuner in my area (Synergy Motorsports) to do it in 2 steps. 1. Do an initial set-up (just turning off what needs to be and not deleting) so as to fire up the motor and 2. bring it back for a dyno/fine tune once the vehicle is running on the street. That's my plan.

x2
That's how I did mine after wasting lots of time on a mail order tune. Or go with Speartech like Cline suggested. Quote:

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
It costs someone with EFI Live about 120 to 130 bucks to buy a license to re-flash a PCM. Some folks have purchased the big 2k unlimited licensing package which will let them do it cheaper if they can get enough folks to buy their services to pay for the cost of the licensing.
Anything on top of that is just profit for the service provider

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
Every place I've called is about 250$ -300$ ,is this a normal price?
Seems a bit high to me.

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
Send it to the dude at lt1swap.com He is by far the best priced $75 return shipping included. The other option is great IF you want to spend a lot more for a custom tune, I was quoted about $400 which was not in my budget, so I went with the other and I am very pleased with how it runs.

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
If your engine is stock, then a mail order tune will usually be suffecient since all they are doing is turning off emmission stuff and VATS. They can also set them to your specific tire size and gear ratio. But if you start modifying the engine with a cam and such, then its best to have a live tune done on it. I've had both done and they will both work under the right circumstances.

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
Its generally based on the year model/ecm version. The earlier stuff costing less. I spoke with Patrick at Quality about a complete retune on my truck...which included both dyno and drivability tuning done over a couple of days sounded very thorough but cost is a little more at $500.

Re: Where to send computer for re-flash?
If you have not found someone yet. Pm me, I have a guy that has dealt a lot of ls swapped vehicles, he has been helping me with the tuning on my truck. Very reasonably priced and does a great job!
