Need help with my console
Attached is a picture of part of my console. I have disassembled it to begin restoring it, but I'm not sure what to make of it. The seatbelt section looks like it may have been cut out of another console and screwed to the top console section. Any thoughts as to what the original configuration of this console was? Were the cup holders originally a screw in insert? Were cup holders ever original to the 72 model year? Was the seatbelt holder molded into the console body?
Thanks for help with any of these questions. |

Re: Need help with my console
Cupholders were 73 and up I think. 72 and older were the seatbelts and I believe they were molded. Ill have to look closer at mine. The consoles are identical I think with the only difference being the cupholder or seatbelt holders

Re: Need help with my console
My 72 has cup holders. I'll take a look tonight and see if that part is molded in or screwed in.

Re: Need help with my console
Seatbelt holder consoles are "correct" for the 69-72. They are molded into the console. The cupholder consoles are definitely later atleast 75 to 80. The seat belt consoles were also found in the 73-75'? era as well. The cupholder consoles were a seperate piece that screwed in. Looks as though you have a newer cupholder console that someone retrofitted a seatbelt piece into. Easiest thing would be to find a cupholder piece and screw it in. The other option is to fiberglass the cupholder back into that area. Trevor
