Rocket Wheels Ind
just pulled all my wheels off my truck today going to go sand blast them on sunday and finally get some new rubber under the old girl. what I was wondering is the buddy helping me out can powder coat (for a price) not sure what these wheel's are made of or should I just rattle can them with some wheel paint from the auto part's store. don't know anything about these wheels got them used from a pawn shop in 94. all they say on the inside is Rocket Wheels Ind. any info is appreciated.

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
I have always called them turbines. I'm sure someone here will know the actual name for them.
They would look awesome if you powdercoated them black and then polished the outward facing flat surface of each spoke. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
They look close to the slots that came on my '78 when I first bought it:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=327474 The lips on mine look to be a little wider than what yours show (and more slots), so they may be different. The ones in the link above were aluminum. I traded them to a buddy that was helping me on the build. He put them on his truck and his truck caught on fire. If you want to see what they look like burned up: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=355091

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
I can't tell what they are made of feel to heavy for aluminum not sure if they can get baked in the oven or not. definitely thinking about polishing the edges like they did when they were new

anybody know where I might be able to find the original rocket center caps, the ones on the above 5 lug set are incredible looking. unfortunately pawnshop didn't have the center's when I bought them but i can't complain much only paid $200 for wheel's and tires.

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
Used to be real common to paint them matching or contrasting colors with polished faces. I'd probably rattle can one first to see if you like the look.

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
I hit the one with a little wheel paint just to see how it looks definitely an improvement. just worried that they might warp if we powder coat them don't know much about it. my buddy only powder coats atv parts never did any wheels.

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
when those first came out they were made by et mags. if you google that you should see some. those are probably a knock off of et mags. I had some on a 70 1/2 ton and also a set on a 77 trans am. on both of mine I used wet dry sand paper to sand the front face of the fins and then I put petroleum gelly on that and primed and painted them black, then you can wipe off the jelly and throw some wax on there to keep the shine(jelly is easier than tapeing them off) . that really makes the fins stand out. im pretty sure that standard center caps will fit. id mesure them but they probably 3.18

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
unfortunately my buddy ran out of sand so I only got one finished. he wasn't to keen on trying to bake them in his oven so I went with the wheel paint going with all black if I don't like it hopefully won't be to bad to sand down the turbine faces.
it's never been so clean my garage lights suck and paint still really wet

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
sorry about that I finished them a few days after the last post but the pic's didn't come out very good and I never got a change to get it out for some better ones and now it's in the process of getting a much needed face lift (very long story). here's the pic's I have definitely made a huge difference.

Re: Rocket Wheels Ind
I kinda like them all black, I think they would also look good if they were painted a dark gray with the edges polished out. Classic rims, I remember those being on vw's, chevy trucks/vans, mustangs etc.
