Speedo cable removal??

How do I pull the actual cable out of the back of the speedo? Pulled the dash cluster, and removed the retaining nut from the back of the speedo but could not get the cable to come loose, so I pulled the whole thing out. Thought I'd ask before I just yanked super hard and jacked something up.
Also, what should I lube this with after cleaning the old dried up grease and grime off before I reinstall?

Re: Speedo cable removal??

Well, I still haven't tried to get it out, thought I might get some inspiration by sleeping on it. Didn't work. I will have to go out and try later.
Woogeroo, do you have details on your tach install? Is it the Sunpro Super Tach II 2 5/8" - Black Face & Black Bezel, Part No. CP7906. That thing is only like $35. For that price, I think I need a tach while I have it out!!
I didn't intend to do a dash cluster rebuild, but I have it out for installing the American Autowire Classic Update Series kit I bought, and I don't want to do it again, it's a major pain. Also want to get rid of the added on gauge cluster from a PO, and have all my stuff working right. Gonna consult theastronaut's thread.
Snowball restoration at its' finest, haha.
