Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
If he couldn't sell it for 4k, I'd assume the price is "show up with money"

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
I believe that truck is in Phoenix. Here it is in a different ad with a different reason for sale.
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/3940708388.html I will go and look at it for anyone who so desires. It might be a red flag that it is listed two different ways with two different phone numbers. Grant Last edited by endlessearth; 07-21-2013 at 03:37 AM. |

Yea, I bet he turned down 12k. He would sell his momma for 12k.

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
He ought to take it to Vegas- they're worth $42K there! LOL
If it's as advertised $3500 would seem to be a decent/reasonable asking price to start off with. But our market here is a lot different than either coast. |

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
Hmmm.....the truck is listed in Phoenix, but the phone number area code (951) is Southern California, Inland Empire area. It could be fishy, OR it could be that Grandpa lived in Phoenix, and Grand Daughter drove it back to So Cal and just wants to sell it ASAP.
Could be a great deal is you roll up with cash in hand. The Phoenix Craigslist ad says $3400, and I think if you got it in the high $2000 range, it would be a good deal.

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
And i bet it's a lot like my truck....sheetmetal almost perfect, just the paint and rubber beat down by the sun. We've done so little metal work on my truck from cali it's ridiculous, you never get away with that out here in ohio...that truck is a perfect patina slam job starting point, or to restore without a ton of body repair.

Worth a look for sure! Too bad that precious aluminum grill took the one and only hit. Ouch!

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
I feel your pain, that's why I don't look at other cities on CL. Think it would make it 1800 miles back to GA..lol. I really have thought of making an adventure trip of flying out to the west coast buying a truck and driving it back but too many variables for me right now.

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
The guy who turned down the 12K drove it to Prescott from California and never took down his CL ad. The second guy now wants to sell because he bought a short bed. He doubts its that low of miles. Said the kid needs money he thinks because he removed 3 crack pipes from inside after cleaning the interior ??!!? New owner sounds legit, he is sending me more pictures. Bottoms of fenders and doors are slightly bulging from bondo patches. Can post pics if needed but its NOT original paint down low. Rockers and cab corners look good. Not a bad truck but not a perfect rust free truck either.

Do it, it's a great adventure, parts available everywhere along the way. So much was miswired, rigged on my truck and we made it from fresno to youngstown in record time anyways.

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
We figured that if we were carrying the cash for the purchase, we'd have enough on us to rent a car to come back or fly back if we didn't make the purchase. Of course, there are enough people on here that you could send someone local to go take a look at it for you. The first thing we did when we got there was head across the street to harbor freight and assemble a toolbox and electrical kit, which came in handy. Then, as we were driving, we'd go "hey, that isn't working right" and find a rubbing bare wire and fix it, or put new fuel hose and filter on, or hook up the cig lighter so we could charge phones. Over a few days, the truck was a whole different animal. It ran like a pro, and after the motor was torn down we found it was .040 over and needed to go .060 and the valves were all beat in the head and everything was just sloppy. Still ran great though!

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
I wouldn't classify that as a "beautiful truck". If that's a beautiful truck then my old 64(which doesn't have a dent in the grill....) is a gorgeous truck.
I can't agree with that either. Runs as good as it looks? If I said that about my 66( if they didn't see the motor first) no one would buy it. He'll be doing good if he sees about 2000 for it. My offer would be 1000 cause it has a 6 in it, and it's just a standered pickup. Had a v8 and 4 wheel drive I'll give 3000 for it.

Re: I hate Cali CL finds!
Been converted to a floor shift at some point. I think the windshield has been out also. Has all the custom trim but the windshield trim. Odd that he ordered a cutom cab w/standard heater too, most people went with the deluxe heater if they were kicking out extra cash to begin with. And of course the elusive deluxe seat cover is gone. Price is reasonable for mid-atlantic area....if mechanically sound.
