New guy needing some help.

Hey everyone. My name is Chris. This weekend I bought my first C10. It's an 83 short bed. The PO installed put in a 355, new tranny, 4.11 rearend, 2000 stall, and a few other things I am still learning about. Most the mechanical is in pretty good shape. One thing that he cut the corner on (literally) is lowering the C10. In the front he cut the Springs and I'm not sure what was done in the rear but there are a few leaf springs missing.

I know it's a truck, and I expect it to ride like one, but not like this. It leans on the drivers side (I'm 350lbs, but it still leans when empty). Just the smallest bump and it bottoms out on something.

I want to same up the money to drop it right but in the meantime I want to return it to stock. Does anyone have there old front springs sitting around that you would be willing to sell? I'm not sure what to do with the rear end and I'm looking for advise. I know the stock ride has to be better than this, and I don't want to tear the truck up. Here are a few quick snaps of "Ed".

Cutting the front springs and removing some rear leafs can be an acceptable way of lowering ... if done right.

Front coils - how did he cut them? Did he use a cut-off wheel or a torch? A torch can weaken the spring if it gets too hot while cutting them.

For what springs cost to ship, I'd just get some from the salvage yard until you plan on buying lowering springs.

Yeah cutting springs can be good and bad and if done wrong its really bad.And yeah a junkyard would be the cheapest place to get springs just to see if it rides better.And if you use cheap shocks that can cause it to ride rough see what brand is on it.

i cant imagine the nightmare of trying to get springs out of a yard. if I didnt have my impact tools I would have never gotten it apart. not to mention the hours it took me. In a burning hot sandlot with pit vipers... no thanks. check the parts board for your year truck.

mine were only 100ish for both and they are moog. new. no grease on them.

fyi you cant post "want to buy" unless you are a paying member. they will lock the thread if you do. just a heads up. its worth the $15 or whatever for the year.
