Chassis paint help!!! :(
Hi all i just got done sand blasting and painting my 64 Chevy truck frame with "eastwood company chassis kit (epoxy primer x2 coats, and their signature 2k ceramic black chassis paint)
PROBLEM = the paint scratches like nothing, just putting the frame on jack stands has the paint scratching off. I waited 2 days for paint to dry and its been 5 days and its still scratches really easy. the reason i bought the stuff was they advertised that it was super durable. i used all their products and cleaned the frame like they instructed....im at a loss if anyone has any ideas please help

Re: Chassis paint help!!! :(
Is that epoxy not a two-part mix of epoxy and activator? Was it mixed exactly as recommended?

Re: Chassis paint help!!! :(
yes it was 2 part 1:1 mix, in a paint cup like the instructions said and the black was a 4:1 with activator used in paint mix cup... im no pro and im not above thinking it was human error but i followed their instructions and used only their product to clean and paint the frame not sure what else i could have done it seemed very easy

Re: Chassis paint help!!! :(
I'm not familiar with Eastwood's product line, but catalyzed stuff in general gets pretty darn HARD. Can you tell if it's the primer, or paint (or both) that's still soft?

It goes right down to bare metal so I assume it's both

Re: Chassis paint help!!! :(
I use regular black rustoleum on mine, the stuff is bullet proof when dry, you can hit it with a hammer with no damage.

Call Eastwood, they should be able to lead you in the right direction, I'm sure it's happened before.

Re: Chassis paint help!!! :(
How long did you wait between spraying the epoxy and paint? If you got the paint on too soon over the epoxy then that could be the problem.

Re: Chassis paint help!!! :(
Sounds like the hardener for the epoxy may have been bad. Check to see of there is a batch or lot number and call Eastwood to see if they've had problems.
