Chrome bumper over riders? Do they exist?

I think I have seen a couple of pics with trucks wearing what looks like over riders on the front.

Were these ever available, or are they from elsewhere, adapted to fit ?

Re: Chrome bumper over riders? Do they exist?

You talking about the bumper guards? Yes, they were available from the factory and are still reproduced. Note....reproductions are generally made for reproduction bumpers, and the OEM bumper guards seem to fit OEM bumpers better....just my 2 cents worth. I picked up a new pair for $80 off line. I have seen them as high as $150 repoped and OEM ones from $80 - $200 (depending if chrome or painted).

In the case of the 63-66, you remove the four center bumper bolts, the bumper guards get bolted on from the back side. Easy job, took maybe 20min total. The fit of mine was not 100%, but close enough that I wasn't doing any fab to the guards to make them perfect.

Buck teeth! Sounds like something Tim (Special-K) would say.

Re: Chrome bumper over riders? Do they exist?

Hey rich, for $80 you could get the chrome ones and sand them down/paint them. Cheaper than bumper replacement.

Re: Chrome bumper over riders? Do they exist?

I thought overriders were what early VW bumpers had, the top rail that goes above the bumper... Atleast that what the VW guys call them.

Re: Chrome bumper over riders? Do they exist?

I like how these things look...might have to grab a pair some day for my '66. I saw that Classic Industries has repops in chrome for $100 for the 63-66.

Re: Chrome bumper over riders? Do they exist?

Overriders refer to the ones that came in 50s cars that had went over the plate. Kinda what what the vw guys call too. These are more like bumperguards. Either name I like em, and wanna get some and paint white like Dino did on his last truck.
