Rhino Lined truck.
I was reading the news before I did my chores outside this morning, and there was a story of how Rhino lining in OC had expanded to do the whole outside of trucks. I have always thought the whole idea was pretty neat, probably real nice for people who really go off road, and it looks pretty cool too.
How does rhino lining the whole truck effect mpg? Since it is rather bumpy by nature of application, and it is the desired effect for bed liners. Does it effect airflow over the truck or car enough to reduce mpg. |

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
I don't think a smooth vs ruff square will noticeably effect mpg. If anything it's the extra weight that will. And besides. Bed liner isn't going to keep your hood straight when it hits a tree on the trail right?

when i ever get enough money to paint it, i'm doing about 10" up on the rockers & my bushwackers with line-x, won't really help with the tree's, but sure helps with natures pinstriping |

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
Yeah, it won't affect the mpg, at least the drag won't. I think it looks terrible.

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
About 7/8 of my truck was rhino lined but it was roll on. Honestly it was cool because it neve scratched no matter how muddy it got. Pressure wash the mud off scrub brush it then wash off soap abd tadaa ready to go again. It wasn't cheap but i've got an even better cab that it won't get the same treatment. She's gonna be my show toy/ heavy hauler so i said regular paint. But if it worked fine for me.

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
Line-X has done the outside of trucks and even bigger rigs. Looks pretty sharp. Line-X is much better than Rhino. MO

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
Line-x is better looking and they have a body armor now which weights less then the bed liner. If it was me i wouldn't spend that kinda money to paint the body on it.A box of spray paint is a lot cheaper,And if you wreck it off road replacing body parts and painting them in easier and cheaper.

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
I have seen a Hummer h2 and two dodge one tons done this way, they look pretty good. Tough but good.
Mythbusters did some tests that showed a vehicle with a rough surface would get better milage than a smooth one. THe premis came from the fact that a dimpled golf ball flies further than one that was smooth. They did have a positive result. Would rhino lining give the same result? Who knows? Keith |

Re: Rhino Lined truck.
Lots of trucks around here use some sort of liner I've worked on a 4 runner that was 100% rhino lined. Now used properly it can look good but just kinda cheesy except on an off road rig like the 4 runner. It will not effect mpg. At the most your going to add 20 lbs to your truck.
