Frenching headlights
I'm thinking of frenching the headlights on my 49. Are the headlight rings stainless steel or chrome plated? If they are stainless can they be welded to the steel fenders?
I'm new to this welding thing but I'm learning. Thanks. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Frenching headlights
So it looks like I can't just weld my stock trim rings to the fender, finish them, and mound the headlights to the inside of the fender.
I guess the stainless trim rings won't weld to the steel fender. So now its finding some trim rings that I can use. Thanks for the help. |

Re: Frenching headlights
Sure, you can weld the stainless rings, just tack, them on, fill with dura glass, and finish, But the original rings. Don't have a deep inside lip, to actually French them back and look finished, 53 mercury rings are available at butchers cool stuff, pretty cheap..
