Help with engine identity
I own a 1954 chevy 3100 truck. As I have been doing some engine work, I am wondering if the truck has a later model engine vs the original. How can I identify the engine model, year etc? Are there any codes I can check or find on motor?

Re: Help with engine identity
Some additional info
My cast numbers were A82 in one area and 3769716 in another The stamp number behind the distributor is F0209A I also have a cast number off of water pump, the part I am trying to find a replacement for. The water pump number is 3836180 Thanks for your help. I am trying to replace my water pump this time but having the specific engine info would be a great help. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Help with engine identity
Searching google for "casting number 3769716" returns plenty of hits. The first three are very good reading.
