Rear end interchangeability
I have a corporate 4.57 rear in my 1968 3/4 ton 8 lug pickup with rear coil suspension. I found a 1959 chevy panel truck with a 6 lug coil corporate rear end with 4.11 gearing. My question is if I can simply swap the carrier (pumpkin) of the 6 lug 4.11 rear directly into my 4.57 8 lug rear? So my truck can have better freeway manners.

Re: Rear end interchangeability
The first thing I would ask is if the axle spline count is the same. You will not be able to swap the 1959 axles because the housings are more than likely different widths.
Will the 59 carrier bolt into the 68 housing? If it does, then your only problem maybe axle length and spline count. |
