Looking at a 84 burb with ??????

350 4 bbl auto 2wd, a/c, 2 tone, bad headliner, minimal rust. Runs good. Anything else that should concern me before I buy it?

Is it a TH350 tranny or 700R4? The first gen R4's were terribly weak.

The R4 is an overdrive transmission, the turbo 350 is a three speed. Even if it has the 700R4 it has most likely been rebuilt, but you'd definitely want to ask about it if it has one. With any luck, it might have been replaced with a later stronger R4.

Re: Looking at a 84 burb with ??????

Look at the gear slector, the overdrive transmissions will have a D and a 'circle' D. the three speeds will just have D.

Crawl under and you can tell the difference by looking at the pan.

Or, the 700R4 will have a TV cable hooked to the throttle where as the TH350/400 will have a kickdown.

There will be a vacuum line running to the tH350/400 on the passenger side, the 700R4 will have wires running to the driver side.
