Bouncing gas guage

So I have finally finished installing my under bed gas tank from lmc and have it filled up however I have found the gas gauge bounces around a lot. Since my gas guage never work I don't know if this is normal for this truck so hopefully some one can help. The gauge fluctuates as much a quarter of a tank when I go over bumps

Sounds like the contact inside the sending unit control box is stuck! I yanked mine out cuz it didn't work at all and found that the box had broken open and the copper inside the wasn't making contact so I soldered it back together, made sure the contact was positioned right, and soldered the small box back together, installed and everything works now. Good luck!

Re: Bouncing gas guage

some of the after market sending units use the wrong ohms? current to the gauge . if you can find a original good unit might be the way to go if you are having problems .

Maybe 0 to 90 ohm sender on a 0 to 30 ohm gauge....?

The sending unit is brand new. I didn't look very closely at it just popped it in should u take it out an examine it? I have the bed off right now so I'm trying to get everything perfect before the bed goes back on

Re: Bouncing gas guage

I would pull it before you put the bed on and check it with a meter while you work the float!

Re: Bouncing gas guage

NCD 66 ...with the key/INJ. on ground out the wire at the sending unit and see if dash gauge goes to E if it does then its the sender if it still stays at F then you have an "open" wire to the dash gauge

Re: Bouncing gas guage

Does the tank have a baffle in it? The fuel sloshing around can cause the float to bob around until it settles down.
