Re: CL shortbox in CA - not mine

Depends on what he considers "minimal rust".

No engine....no detailed pictures....only one pic from 20 feet...needs new wood....all make me suspicious.

It could be worth it, but only if the "minimal rust" is surface only, IMO.

But IMO, based on what I have seen with ad's like this, they typically have a lot more issues that they are trying to play down. Assuming it needs new rockers, I would suspect floor as well. Also on the pic it looks like there may be a few tweeks in the bed, but could be a play on the light.

If it is all they say, and if there are no other issues then I would say 3000-3500 would be a fair price. But if there are any other issues then more info would be needed before fair price could be considered.

Re: CL shortbox in CA - not mine

orig CA truck with minimal rust and no eng - it's ballpark if the body is as good on the other side as it is on the pictured side. I focused my attn on the inside walls of the bed - I think it just has a fresh coat of primer that kinda smooths out the warts, but it is DEFINITELY worth taking a closer look. If you were gonna drop a non-orig motor into one anyway, then you might come out ahead with this little truck. I do like it and think the price is right if the body is as solid as described. If HOLES in the other rocker (i.e. why not show it, because the seller should know everyone will ask... ha) then I'd probably pass. I can't tell for certain, but am assuming it's a small window cab(?) If it were a big window, it's pretty darn tempting even with a rusty rocker: crate or old stock motor, drop it (did I just say that??), paint the white grille surround and the black that should be behind it, and spruce up the grille and tailgate, and go to town in it for groceries. Then order some side trim and paint a white stripe in the rear trim and call it a day. If the TH400 works, that is... With a TH400, makes me wonder what was in it before it became "motorless"... That's a LOT of trans for one of these little trucks.
