Almost anything can happen if you want it bad enough. But, that doesn't mean it will be easy nor does it mean it's worth the effort.

Why the swap? What's wrong w/the 68's frame?

It's hard to suggest something on the net w/o coming across wrong (as an a-h@#e) so let me add a disclaimer that no disrespect is intended here.... If you paid someone else to do a frame 'Z', I don't think it's a good idea to try the swap yourself.

You would have to do a bunch of tedious fabricating. The F/R bumper mounts, core support mounts, cab mounts, steering column, & bed mounts would all need to be precise for things to 'work' (look right). Track width could be an issue (the newer stuff is 1.5" wider), wheelbase, etc....

Have you tried finding another frame? What went wrong w/the Z?

I would take the 68 to another shop to have them fix the Z. Or find a new frame. Someone did a 60 something on a 2000 something frame on here and said he would never have done it if he knew what it would have entailed.

X2 these frames are all over a lot less work to start with a 68-72 frame I have seen them around here if you need them.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread but if OP isn't interested, I really need a frame for my '67 long bed. Would even go for a short bed frame if it was in good shape.

Was going to fab a rectangular tube frame but I've been down the fabrication road before and it's a lot harder, and far more time consuming, than one might think.

Basicly your building a truck over from scratch almost.Is the truck a long bed or short bed?A long bed frame will be easy to get a short bed will cost more but you can always shorten a long bed.

There used to be a company that put '67-72 bodies on the then "new" 1988 frames. You might want to check to see why...google?

I heard they fit w/o many mods but you'll have to do your own homework.

You might google them both and check the measurements to see the differences. Just a thought if you have or have access to the 98 frame.
