Gas Pedal Holder?

I have a new gas pedal but I cant get it on because something is clearly missing. Only the metal hook is on the floor and that what I press to go. I bought a new gas pedal but it will not fit as it looks like some type of box or mounting piece should be there. Anybody know the name of it and what it looks like? It seems chevy is known for this problem I have seen other trucks with no gas pedal.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

I'm assuming you have a 64? Are you sure you have the correct pedal? It bolts to the floor and rests on the "hook".

Please see the pics and yes it is a 64, those screws on the pedal are really short, cant imagine them going through the floor more less holding place. I hope I am wrong and you guys are right.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

Your pedal bolts to the floor and the top part of the pad rests against the hook as stated above. If you look under the truck at the bottom of the floorboard, you should see where it will come through. I see you have carpet (which wasn't factory, so the mounting holes are covered up. The rubber floor mats that came stock had two holes in the floor mat where the bolts went through. So you have all the correct parts.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

That looks like the same pedal I was sent for my 64 but mine actually bolted to the floor. May be the wrong one for your truck....

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

Here is the best pic I can find to try and help you. Im a 60-63 guy, so I don't have many 64-66 interior pics, but it should give you the general idea. Maybe the 64-66 members can help more on this.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

Also...The 64-66 pedals Ive seen don't bolt through like the 60-63 pedals do. I believe the 64-66 pedals sit on the bolts w/the ball tops. 1st pic is 60-63, 2nd is 64-66

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

I wonder if there were some early pedals used in the 64's. I know mine bolts to the floor like the 60-63 and it is the late cab.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

I personally am not sure. Ive always had 60-63's. Never owned a 64-66. But with the member numbers here, surely someone can help on this. Early production 64's may have had the earlier pedals, or possibly a previous owner converted.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

Thanks a million for all the replies, so I ordered those two studs in the pic and I will try to modify something to get that pedal to the floor safely and will post pics.

Re: Gas Pedal Holder?

On my 66 the two bolts with the round balls on them go through the floor and the pedal just snaps onto them. The upper part just rests on the throttle arm, hook thinggy whatever you call it. Look under the carpet and see if you can find a couple of holes with nuts welded on the outside of the cab.
