australian rhd build

so i decided id make a thread on my build.
Its a 1977 c20 i bought for $2000, came with an 010 350, mated to a 350 turbo and the rear end at one point had dual wheels. I'm about 5 months into the build so this thread is a bit behind, but better late than never. With the rules here of getting my liscene for the first time, i cannot drive 8 cylinders, turbo or supercharged, has to be 6 cylinder or less and a diesel turbo is allowed. a maximum of 210kw or about 280hp is also the rule here. i can get an exemption which will grant me usage of a v8 but are hard to obtain.

My plans where to get a 6bt and use that mainly for there torque, but decided to get a 4.3l v6.

Re: australian rhd build

here are photos when i first got the truck, should have kept it how it was but, i decided I was going to do a nearly full body off resto on a budget of not much and lots of time.

Re: australian rhd build

so the engine has had some oil leak in the last 10 years and it was so built up and thick even the pressure wash wouldn't take it off, so i had to scrap it all off. took the tray and guards down and put primer on and then took the tray off and took the chassis to bare metal with a wire wheel.

Re: australian rhd build

so got the v6 for $500 it had the eldevbrock manifold on it, but i had previously found a holler street dominator for it, there isn't even information on the thing ! so its a rather rare piece. i put that manifold on there, i paint strippers the whole engine, painted it chevy orange and matte black on the sand blasted pulleys and pump. i think it turned out quite good

Nice truck pal, shame about the engine rules. Looks like your progressing well. Keep it up
