Fuel gauge wiring help.....
I removed the fuel tank selector valve in my 82. I did this as I only require one tank without factory fuel supply to engine etc... I am using the passenger side tank. I hooked the wiring back up to the sending unit, and the gauge does not work. I believe I have to jumper a couple wires on the plug that went into the selector valve. Can somebody help me out here please?

Re: Fuel gauge wiring help.....
You are correct.
The selector switch that connects the senders in your tanks to the fuel gauge is part of the tank selector valve. When you remove the valve and run from only one tank you need to reconnect the sender to the PINK wire that goes to the gauge. Assuming that the diagram that you posted is the correct one for your truck, you should find that three of the wires in the connector that went to the valve will be: PINK, PINK with a WHITE stripe and PINK with a BLACK stripe. If you are now running off of the production (left) tank only, then you need to connect the PINK-WHITE wire to the PINK wire. You can do this with a jumper in the connecter or you can clip the two wires and connect them together with a butt connecter. If you are running from the AUX (right) tank then you will need to jumper or connect the PINK-BLACK wire to the PINK wire. Let me know how this works out mybigtruck |
