Driveshafts?

Okay I am wondering if the driveshaft from my 74 k5 with th350/np203 will work when I install the SM465/NP205 that I have both unit are using the stock adapters. So my basic question is are the driveshafts the same length?

Re: Driveshafts?

Mine aren't and i have a k10. About... 8" short give or take a little but i have a 4" lift. I'd still say no it's too short. Break out the tape measure!!

Re: Driveshafts?

Well thats the problem I have the trans and transfer case but not the driveshafts for the sm465 you dont see truck with the combo in the wrecking yards in my area so you pretty much have to find a complete truck or have custom shafts made

Re: Driveshafts?

I feel ya. Finding a square at a yard is almost impossible round here. The trucks have a 2piece shaft. Let me go measure mine and let ya know. If it measures close to your legnth you need ya can look for one from an auto truck that's LWB

Re: Driveshafts?

I have a 4" lift and my front shaft is about an inch to 2 inches TOO LONG. If my suspension compresses right now i'm screwed so it will have to be shortened. Or get a 6" lift

Re: Driveshafts?

You may try the bay. I have a CC with a 465/205 and needed the front shaft after mine grenaded. It was cheaper to buy a complete used shaft than rebuilding my my old one. Scored it for $75 shipping incld. Btw It was before I knew about this site. Check on here first in the classified.

Re: Driveshafts?

Well I did find a rear shaft out of a buddies 3/4 ton with an sm465 that I didn't remember having so I think I am brave enough to try and shorten the shafts to fit
