Washer Pump doesn't fit?
I took the wiper motor/washer pump out of my 66 to replace the seal between the motor in cab, wiper motor mounts, etc. While it's out, i want to replace the wiper motor. I got the little repair kit and it didn't have the right pieces (or the 66 doesn't have the pieces that later models i've worked on have.) None of the kits seem to have the bellows.
No problem i thought, the washer pumps are under $30 so i'll get one in and just switch the whole assembly. I know many don't like the mechanical pump, but i have several cars with them and they work well and i think the squirters are nostalgic. Anyways, i got a new anco 61-72 which shows like 62-73 pickups. Every site i've found shows that those years (in a couple brands) use the same wiper motor. It came with a new plastic globe gear, but my motor has a metal one on it. The new washer pump has a lever with an arm to trigger it, the old one had a square block that just moved in and out. No big deal, should still work, but then i went to mount it and the new pump mounts are wider than the old, one bolt is hanging off the end of the wiper motor mount plate! All the research i've done today pretty much tells me that every vendor is going to send me a washer pump for a 64-72 as the same. So either this motor isn't for a 64-72 (which is crazy because it mounts up, wires up, and works fine, and i wouldn't think that'd be the case) or the earlier C10s don't have the same mounting width on the washer pumps and they DON'T fit the same washer pumps as later C10s. Anyone have experience with this? It doesn't even seem to engage the global gear at the right place. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/anc-61-02

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Here are some pics to show the difference...maybe someone will recognize the pump as a different year or something?!

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Heres the one I have from a 63 going into my 63 if it helps any. I can pop the cover off and see which action it has inside.
I do need to know what the white and pink wires run to if you can lend any help on that while your under the dash. Im converting from single speed to two speed w/washer. There are two different two speeds...one w/4 prong plus (as ours) and a 3 prong plug....at least in 1963. Mine is the same inside as yours and also has the metal gear.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Thanks for the pic! I have the factory harness so i can get the wiring back to normal. I wonder if i have an earlier motor/pump? All the after market stuff says 64-72, so i wonder if someone swapped an earlier setup in. If possible, can you measure the distance between the two washer pump mounting screw holes so i can compare? Then i can report back what i've found.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
measuring the distance between the two mounting holes on the back of the washer pump (as show in the pic) i came up with this:
old - 3 15/16 new - 4 5/8

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
I could go a 1/16" either way on my measurement, but your right...about an inch off.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
I see 69ish camaro's have the same wiper motor and washer pump as our trucks? If so, if you really can just cram just about anything in there, who knows what this came from if not original?

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Well what i'm afraid of is that the new washer pump i have IS for a 66, and that i have the wrong wiper motor. No numbers on it anywhere. Not knowing what it is from, i may have to buy a wiper motor for a 66 to match my new pump, even though this wiper motor worked fine!

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Can you return the pump? Maybe the link below...get the guy to measure it for you.
Should be the same from 64 to at least 77. Check out this link, this is an American made part too http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Washer-P...1f7031&vxp=mtr

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Get the same size mounting locations that I gave you and you should be fine. Measure the wiper motor for your proper mounting size. All the washer motors are 2 prong, so no issues there. Just needs to mount to the wiper motor properly.
As long as your replacement is the 3 13/16 - 3 15/16 mount, you should be fine.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
Send the guy on ebay a request for the measurement. May help narrow down the years.

I've got a '64-'66 wiper motor with the washer pump at the shop. I'll try and remember to measure it tomorrow.

The '64-'66 wiper/washer I checked at the shop today measures 3 15/16" center to center of the holes.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
So, there it is, the washer pump vendors are selling for 66 are not for 66. almost all of them list this one as their 64-72ish model.

Re: Washer Pump doesn't fit?
I ordered another one from a different vendor today (had to order some more parts anyways.) so we'll see if it fits when it gets back.
I wonder if the aanco 61-02 is the correct pump, but the wrong pump is in the box or someone returned the wrong one or something and i got it. We'll see closer to the weekend and i'll update here what i find. Thanks everyone for the research and measurements!
