Anyone upholster their roof/back wall?
Hey there,
Wondering if anyone has done a headliner and/or covered their back wall with fabric? I'm starting a big interior and engine project on my truck, and I'd really like to cover the whole inside with leather, fabric, etc and make it cozy and nice looking. Probably going to remove everything, strip it, and Por-15 it. Then cover it with sound insulation probably from the sounddeadenershowdown guy. The cover that with carpet, headliner fabric, leather, etc. Anyone done this, or perhaps have any words of caution? |

It would she make music sound better. Music sounds like crap in a metal box I've noticed. I only have4 6x9s with lil tweeters but it's horrible.

Dad had it done in his 47. He loves it. I hate it. Its well done/quality upholstery but in combo with upholstering the doors it makes the cab look like a plush pimp chair in a padded pimp cell.

Re: Anyone upholster their roof/back wall?
I installed snaps and made it so my carpeted back wall is removeable. It tucks in and partially overlaps the rear carpet behind the seats to cover up the seatbelt mounting points, and give you a place to tuck things like window shades, my detailing brush etc without being seen or taking up glovebox/console space.

Re: Anyone upholster their roof/back wall?
Here are some photos I’ve collected from this forum. Some cover the back wall. There are all different levels of quality and owner satisfaction, but none provide the answers needed to do the headliner I’m interested in:

And here’s a nicely done 1968 that was built on a fiberglass cab shell: The following older thread provides tech info on some of the headliners shown above: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...adliner&page=2 So far on my own truck I’ve diamond tufted the lower back wall, lower door panels, and firewall. I’d like to do a matching headliner but have yet to discover a suitable method of permanent attachment:

Re: Anyone upholster their roof/back wall?
I see Mark has one of mine when it was new. It was done bad and is acually peeling back. I guess I could reglue the edges but I was just going to pulll it all out and go back to steel with the door panels. Here are a couple of other pics with what is behind the seat. As you can see there is a cover for it as it is rolled up for the picture. The stereo is outdated...

Re: Anyone upholster their roof/back wall?
For those with interest, I was looking around StockInteriors.com this morning and discovered they offer an interior for our trucks (item number 21648):
http://www.stockinteriors.com/Pressb...47&ModelId=479 It’s not what I’m looking for, but someone mind find interest.
