$18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
Is this guy high? It has potential but for $18K, I expect a pretty seriously done-up truck.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
Not for me, or most of us on here.. but to the right person who wants an (what looks like) unmolested original big block '68.. maybe.
Can't blame him for trying..

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
No, i say no because its a 2wd, yes it has the 396 in it and thats what gives this truck its value. Now it depends where you live, cuz in albuq you can find a 2wd in this condition for about 5k, if its a 4x4 your gonna pay atleast 8 or 9k and up depending on its condition. if you look at the notations for each rating, i would say this truck would go under the "low retail" value because the paint is faded, i dont think minor polishing would bring it to a show quality condition.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
I will stick with my original 70 C20 with the 350 in it I got for $1,500..... Sure it's been used and isn't in as good a shape, but it works more than well enough for a daily driver and I won't feel as bad when I hack into it for a project....

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
Maybe NADA is the one that's crazy..... A couple nice options yes, but if he can get that kind of money for that truck....
LOL, yeah its NADA. Apparently my $2K truck is actually worth $9,200 on the low-side. I need to put an ad up myself.

Some guys go nuts for the 50th Anniversary trucks.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
The guy also suggests the buyer ruin the truck by clear coating it to "preserve" it. A garage would preserve it, clear coat would be flaking off in 5-10 years & a complete repaint would be required.

If the original asking price was 6K, buyer probably paid 4.5-5K. That's a great buy for that truck. 18K? Richard Rawlings is in Texas, Right? Quote:

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
Being a LWB, that truck would doing good to go for $18,000 even if it was restored. Being a 50th and a BB adds value, but being a LWB will always keep the value lower.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
The ad says the truck only has 20K miles on it.
BB, A/C, A/T, PS, 20K miles, interior looks really good...I couldn't afford it, but there may be someone who has searched all his life for that truck. They need to swap out the wheels for some originals with hubcaps. Several people on here have bought low mile trucks on here in the past, would be cool to hear from them.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
There were 2 trucks on my local CL recently listed for 1500 and 7500 respectively. They are both now listed by a different seller at 5000 and 12000. I guess "reality shows" have everyone thinking they can be a flipper too.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
guessin this thread won't last much longer. Most seem to be ignoring the fact that this is an anniv truck. A BB anniv truck. To someone, it might be worth low-teens, but then again, none of us can predict what anything is worth to someone else, we just know what "we" like ourselves. There was a time when I wouldn't have owned anything other than a swb C10. Now I own 2 lwb C20s, and I love them. So SOMEone out there really wants a BB anniv truck. I don't expect the NADA image is undoctored, those prices are bogus in my internal NADA rolodex, ha. Restored, it's probably worth close asking price because of the anniv+BB combo. As is, maybe not so much. Clearly a flipper/fisher, but you never know, someone may want it for close to that. Everyone has a holy grail truck, and this is probably it for someone. Now if it were a 72 K20 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper...

Not sure what makes you say that. So far all I see is discussion, no bashing or derogatory posts. That is what is against board rules.
jhwkns probably could have used a better choice of words but other than that I see no problem with it. I guess we'll see... LockDoc

We're all always in the market for our next truck, looking for the perfect barn find and always curious as to what our existing truck might be worth so its an interesting discussion. Prices are definitely all over the place... The "reality" shows have sure made the market cloudy.
