Noobie To The Forum With 1988 R20 Suburban

Glad to have finally found a forum for these trucks (Suburbans). Below are pictures of my new to me 1988 Chevy R20 3/4 Ton 2wd Suburban. It sports the orignal 454 and runs great no smoke plenty of power. Been on the west coast as far as I can tell from the lack of rust.





I have a few questions for you guys. Looking for a 3rd row. From what I've been told a 92-98 third row from a suburban should work is that correct?

Also being that its 3/4 ton I was wondering if you all have found a way to lower it. I'm wanting a 5 inch drop in front and 7 inch drop in the rear at the most. I would rather not have bags to do the drop. Also if anyone has dropped on that low what size of wheels and tires are you running.

Nice Burb. I also own a R20 454 and love it. Have fun with it and don't let the gas pumps get you down.

Cool Burb! I don't know anything about lowering a 3/4 ton, but if you can think of it then somebody here's likely already done it. Until someone chimes in, you can probably get more info than you need w/the search function. Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the compliments. I'm prepared for the gas pump shock I had a 1991 R1500 a year ago, it had a 350 though.

I talked to Western Classics Suspension today and according to Alan at their shop the C30 5" / 7" drop kit #80158 with a retail price $761.23 will work on these trucks. So now my question is has anyone bought it and tried it on one of these suburbans.

Ive used western Classic suspension before and thier stuff was compareable to other drop kits out there. just keep in mind that you may need to go with bigger rims depending on what spindle you go with. i know a 3" drop spindle rubs on a 15" rim. Out back a flip kit will fit but from more clearance for towing and what not id make a knotch.
