1968 4x4 drag link
Hello and great site! Can't believe I didn't find it long ago. I have built several 60-76 C and K trucks over the years.
I have been searching the site for some time and have seen this discussed with no final answer. I am re-building a 1968 K-10. It is in good shape and I plan on keeping it original as possible. To that end I plan on keeping the closed knuck 44. Has anyone found a solution to the no longer available drag link?? The tie rod ends are the same taper, so I am currently searching for a 10-11" tie rod sleeve with 3/4" threads to build one using tie rod ends. Thank you much! |

Re: 1968 4x4 drag link
Many times I have pondered the same question. Look on rockauto.com. Tons of stuff. I looked quIckly under 85 k20, I saw 11/16, 7/8, and 1" sleeves. If you can't find the right sleeve, maybe you could fabricate an entire link using a later model assembly. I had an 85 years ago and I always thought that the set up on that truck would work on my 62.

Re: 1968 4x4 drag link
Thanks guys. No luck at Rockauto, though I have already ordered a lot of stuff with them.
I am going to go the fab route. I ordered left and right hand threaded ends and will source some DOM from a local shop. - The tie rod end threads are 3/4"-16tpi- in case anyone uses this thread for future ref. |
